How I've Grown As a Person...
I used to be a normal teenager who rebelled against authority. I didn't want to talk to my mom or spend time with my family or at home. I pretty much thought that they weren't worth my time because they didn't understand me. As soon as I started opening up to them I realized that they were the people who cared the most. One time my mom picked me up early after school and I got mad at her because she took me away from my friends. I started crying because I wanted to go back so bad. Now when she picks me up I am really happy because I get to see her and go home.
1. What is your primary and secondary social style?
My Primary social style is Driver, and my secondary is expressive. To be a driver means that I naturally take a leadership role in my work and to be an expressive means that I show who I am more loud than other social styles.
2. Given your social style – how do you like to be treated/interacted with? How don’t you like to be treated/interacted with?
My social style likes to be the center of attention and looked at as a leader above others. I don't like being talked down to or told what to do, especially if it restricts me from being able to be me or do what I want.
3. Given your social style – Where do you sometimes feel misunderstood?
Sometimes I can be looked at as too controlling, and sometimes that is true, but it's because I don't like failure. I can also be seen as a distraction, but it is because I get bored fast when I am getting directions or sitting in a lecture.
4. What could others do to relate with you more effectively?
In order for others to relate to me more effectively would be just knowing when I get to my talkative place in class, I need to move on or get the directions so I can do something on my own at my own pace.
5. What could you do to relate with other styles more effectively?
Drivers: Sometimes I could let other drivers be the leaders, as long as I am contributing my ideas in some way.
Analyticals: When I am leading, listening more to the analyticals ideas would be good, also giving them more time to process their thoughts instead of rushing them
Amiables: Trying to engages with amiables and get to know them more.
Expressives: Instead of getting annoyed with other expressives I can understand where they might be coming from with being loud. Especially if I am trying to lead a group.
6. When you are stressed – what behaviors will people see? What causes you to go into “stress behavior”? When you are stressed what can people do to best support you?
When I'm stressed it's usually because let someone or myself down. If this happens I usually get really irritated with people around me and I will snap at them. If this happens, its usually best if someone can make me laugh, cause then let go of the driver inside and my expressive personality comes out and joins with the jokes.
