Food Project
In this food project we learned about the true nature of our food system, went deeper into why it is this way, whats wrong with it, and why it is good. We learned about why fast food restaurants are abundant in America. These companies have enough money that they can get by the food laws without consequences so they never lose a lawsuit or get tagged for unhealthy environments. After learning these things as a class we went on our own and researched a topic that we cared about, going on different branches of the food system to get a better understanding of what we cared about the most.
During this project I was able to see that the way I eat normally is healthy in comparison to the rest of America. Every time I sit down at a table I make sure I know what I am eating. I was raised to eat good food that wasn't always delicious to my childish taste buds After I finished this project I have tagged my mother for unhealthy splurges. A lot of the content that I learned tied into things that my mom was teaching me for the good of my health. I do not believe I have to change the way I eat except for eating less. When we were studying other countries eating habits I was captured by the idea that a whole family eats less in one week than one American in a day. This made me realize that I am gluttonous when I am eating.
I think the hardest thing about this project was finding a topic that spoke to me for my research paper. There was a topic that I was really attached to and after realizing that the topic was too wide I had a hard time connecting to any other topic. After this realization I kind of shut down my passion since I couldn't connect to my topic on a personal level.
I learned that when writing a professional research paper it is easy to try putting information into your paper that doesn't relate to your topic. This happened multiple times, whenever I would come across new interesting information that didn't relate I would try too hard to put it into my project. This created a lot of problems when I went back to edit my paper.
